PAKISTAN - In connection with the month of Muharramul Haram, Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) held a group calligraphic exhibition on Tuesday. More than 50 pieces of 10 renowned calligraphers of international fame were displayed at the exhibition. Aftab Ahmed Khan (pride of performance), Elahi Bux Matteh, Ibne Kaleem, Imran Tahir, Azeem Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Tabani, Tayyab Munawar, Anwar Sadidi, Mehmood Ali, Irsa Ambreen and Amina Waqas participated in the exhibition. Najma, expressing her views after the inaugural ceremony said, “Considering calligraphy our cultural obligation, we should respect and patronize the calligraphers because it is the unique cultural of Islam, adding that the calligraphy reminded the golden era of Muslim rule. Khan used paper and gold leaves to write verses from the Holy Quran. Matteh used Naqshi while Tahir used oil paints on canvas and Iqbal used leather and Aab-e-Zam Zam. Sadidi wrote the Quranic verses on canvas while Tabani used oil on canvas and Mahtab tried graphic art as Rehmat and Mehmood used pen on paper. [link]
